The Tampa Bay Buccaneers extended the contract of their newest acquisition, Kellen Winslow Jr., by giving him the biggest contract for a tight end in NFL history.

Winslow, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, agreed to a six-year, $36.1 million deal that includes $20.1 million in guarantees. With incentives, the deal could grow to $42.1 million.

"The Bucs were open to something long-term," Rosenhaus said. "It's nice to get it done."

The Bucs acquired Winslow in a trade with the Cleveland Browns last month. He caught 43 passes for 428 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games last season. He has a total of 219 catches for 2,459 yards and 11 touchdowns in 44 career games.

He was the sixth pick in the 2004 draft, rated as one of the best tight ends to go from college to the pros. His knee was damaged severely in a 2005 motorcycle accident, but after his recovery, Winslow re-established himself as one of the league's top tight ends.

Now, he's paid like one.
Recession my ass..

I think he has the most talent out of any TE but he is constantly injured... Bad move on this deal, should have given him only a 3 or 4 year deal, since his knees will probably completely break down soon.

He is one of the best TE's, not the best. But this was probably to make sure they have him for a while, and this improves their offense because it will motivate him to play better.
