I think BWare made a post earlier that was great, about how some guys can just score within the flow of an offense but others need the ball in their hands to do it. Take Melo vs Lebron for example. This is strictly hypothetical and would never happen, but imagine a game where Melo only touches the ball five times in a triple threat scoring position on the wing, how many points does he score? Now what about LeBron? The difference would probably be a good sized number, and those kind of players are a whole lot more effective than guys who need the ball to be effective.
