Its Ducan he did more for an organization during the decade. The greatest PF of all-time.
Can we also discuss this as a forum? Timmy has had great talent (in terms of players and coaches) around him, but KG had almost nothing for most of his career.

Imo Garnett is the greatest PF ever, but he'll never get the respect because the Timberwolves are such an inept franchise

ive said that a lot but i still give the nod to duncan, his skills are better. the fact that kg like doubled duncan in earnings says a lot too.

Duncan has turned down plenty of money in his career

yea, says a lot about his character. keep the right guys around him and take his pay cuts for that to happen.

KG was a great player, but he also had a few opportunities that he didnt capitalize on with the Celtics. I see you can make a case for him, but Ducan beats him in almost all stats in the playoffs. Ppg, fg%, rpg, and bpg. And thats considering that Duncan has played 100 more playoff games.

If Duncan were the least bit flashy, he would be considered a top 10 player of all time, and he still might be without it. But so many people fail to give him the respect he truly deserves because of his lack of appeal

didnt capitalize?

Year 1: win title
Year 2: injured
Year 3: lose game 7 of Finals
Year 4: injured

After that 2nd injury he was never the same player. He did as much as he could; the 09 Celtics almost surely would have made the Finals if Garnett was healthy

It's not his fault but he didn't capitalize. That celtics core should have won RINGS. Not one

Not disagreeing. Hell, in 09 we had a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter of Game 7 and blew it

To say that Garnett didn't capitalize is to disrespect him. He had two legitimate chances at a title and only lost the second because of a shitty injury to Perk.

I don't think he was definitively better than Duncan or anything but you swap these two players and it's KG who gets all the love and Duncan who's unceremoniously cast aside in the discussion. It's a lot closer than people want to admit because rings. Rings aren't and never should be everything. Some guys simply never have the pieces to win one, and Garnett nearly fell into that category.

It's not all about rings but even without them Duncan has sustained greatness longer, has more MVP's, etc

But like you've said on many occasions, they only give MVP to a 1/2 seed. Minnesota sucked.

This would be twice as valid if Garnett hadn't been derailed by an injury

We lost the second one because we couldn't close it.

I hate how people put the excuse that we lost because we didn't have Perkins. Like, yeah, he would have helped a ton, but Bynum didn't play for the Lakers in the 08 Finals that Boston won. We had a 13pt lead in the 3rd quarter of Game 7 in 2010, and the first time the Lakers had a lead of 2pts or more in that game was with 5 minutes to go. Celts blew that game.

I've been a member there for like 8 or 9 years.  Browsing there is sort of just a habit at this point.  The quality is shit-tier these days, but all big forums suck... You can still find some interesting discussions from time to time, though.  Like this thread, which probably has more posts than the past 5 SND's combined.
