Superstar is basically all opinions.
My idea of a superstar is much different from others.
Depends how you perceive each player.

ok

but he was rookie of the year
23/7/5 playoff average

25/8/5 this year leading a Bulls team who missed their 2nd and 3rd best players for most of the season to the 2nd best record in the league currently

and frontrunner for MVP

if thats not a superstar, i dont know what is.

When I think of current superstars he just doesn't come straight to my head. Might be cause he is only in his second season.
I want to see what he does in the playoffs this year before I call him a bonafide superstar.

And I don't consider him the frontrunner for MVP.

In case you guys didn't notice, he was defining superstars as guys who deserve to be called it with their on-court play, not how popular/well-known they are. For example, there is no way in hell you can call Blake a superstar if he can't do anything but dunk offensively and is a poor defender. Rose still needs to work on his defense before he can be considered a superstar as well.

everyone's got a different interpretation of Superstar status. You view it as skills on both ends of the court. I personally view it as a player who can put the team on his back when necessary. Who excels in certain areas of the game but doesn't necessarily excel in ALL areas of the game. Somebody who can hit unthinkable shots, or make clutch defensive plays, who is frequently in the highlight reels. don't have to hit all those areas, but some of them. If ya hit 'em all, well, then more power to ya.

The point is who do you consider a superstar.

I still say Blake is a superstar, not just for dunking, but for the fans and excitement he brings to the game. Also Rose is a superstar.

Blake Griffin is the most overrated player in the league. Yes he's good, but a superstar? Come on now...

He's putting up real good #s. He brings energy, excitement, lots of fans, i'd say he is a superstar. Sure his defense and mid range jumper need work, but superstars can always get better.

Derrick Rose is a top 3 candidate for MVP and this dude is trying to act like he isn't a superstar.
