Wes Welker doing 'fantastic' in the protocol

Coach John Fox said Wes Welker is doing "fantastic" in the concussion protocol.

Oftentimes, players with a history of concussions have trouble progressing quickly through the league's protocols. That doesn't appear to be the case with Welker even though this is his third concussion in the last nine months. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says there's a "lot of optimism from the team," essentially confirming that Welker has no intention of retiring and is on track to make a speedy return.

R.I.P. Wes.

But I drafted this dude as the 2nd WR on my fantasy team.  He better not really be dead.
That's why you don't draft before preseason. One among many

I draft him last night knowing about the concussion.  I was just responding to reports in this thread that he died.

I left the rest of the article out lol

. We still like Cody Latimer as a late-round stash -- he has more real-life upside than Andre Caldwell and Welker is a poor bet to make it through the season.

He is done.  He will retire this year in a few weeks or at the end of the season.

my rule of thumb has always been don't draft before labor day weekend.

You should be fine any time after week three of the preseason.  If starters play at all in the fourth game, it's not going to be any more than one series.

I was about to for fun this year, but fuck it. I'll schedule something for next week. I also don't pay for any so it doesn't matter.

I'd just rather play it safe and draft as late as possible.

Bradford is a good example of waiting until after week 4.

Wes Welker | Wide Receiver

Wes Welker (concussion) has been cleared to travel with the Broncos to their preseason finale, but he has yet to be cleared to play.
Welker is making his way through the league's protocol at a rapid pace. He's already exercising, but can't yet take on contact in practice. Welker has 11 days to gain clearance for the Broncos' Week 1 opener two Sundays from now.
