Rockies taking on a big risk with all the money they have tied to their bullpen. Blackmon a FA after this year and Arenado will be a FA going into 2019

Hence why they’re loading up now. They have the offense, decent starters, but bullpen was putrid last year.

I actually like this. Rockies have to overpay if they want pitchers. Overpay pitchers, underlay batters if they can.

They are setting up the team for their home ballpark.  Starters don't throw a lot of innings there and quality is needed in the bullpen.

This is a lateral move

Holland was good last year
Davis will be good

So what?

You could bring up Bryan Shaw and mention how their pen is good. Yes and it waa good last year too

They need to upgrade their offense and then I'll see them as a real threat. I feel like they may get lomo. I hope not lol

All you need is 9 Mark Reynolds in your lineup in Colorado and you're all set.

Honestly though, you don't need much to build an offense in Colorado. They're doing the right thing: spend more on pitching, spend less on offense which will benefit by Coors Field.

Mark Reynolds was barely over replacement level. .8 WAR

Its no wonder they haven't signed him back

I'd take 30 homeruns and a .350 OBP at a cheap cost any day.

I get that he's not spectacular, but Coors Field magnifies his production.

I wouldn't call 30 homeruns minimal.

Honestly, the Rockies would be great in that stadium with the Michael Cuddyers and Mark Reynolds.
