Vince Young will work to get his job back
Agent says backup won't request trade
By Jim Wyatt • THE TENNESSEAN • March 5, 2009

If Vince Young is fuming he isn't showing it, at least according to his agent.

In fact, Major Adams said when the Titans re-signed Kerry Collins — essentially committing to him as the starting quarterback this fall — it only made Young that much hungrier to win back his old job.

"That decision has no bearing on Vince's thinking,'' Adams said Wednesday. "He is just trying to get himself together, not worrying about what they are doing with Kerry. That doesn't matter to him.

"Vince is not upset. He is not asking for a trade or anything. He loves the organization, loves (Titans owner) Bud Adams, and he wants to be in Tennessee. But he still wants to play, and is approaching this offseason like he's going to.''
glad to see him not give up.

A nice little competition between Collins & Young for starting spot. I wonder if Collins said some of the things he did to help motivate Young, sort of like daring him to fight for his job back.

I'll give credit to Jeff Fisher for doing what he is doing. I think that Fisher knows if he is going to get anything out of Vince Young again, then that flame needs to be re-lit inside of Vince Young.

Young was given the starting job a couple of years ago, saw a little bit of success but started to lose his interest in the game. I think what Fisher is doing by keeping Collins around is forcing Vince Young to once again become that fierce competitor he was at Texas.

Vince will be back and because he has had this time to reflect, observe, and compete for his own job, he will be a much better player. I eventually see a much more mature person and better leader out of VInce Young ...when the time is right.

yea ur 100% right.. that is exactly what he needed.. He went through some tough times . and lost interest.. that spark was re-lit when the resigned collins.. Knowing that vince is a better overall qb then collins, he now knows that he can do it.

Vince is at his best when people doubt him. During his sophomore year people didn't think he could pass, all legs. But was one of the most proficient passers in the league.

Then he comes into NFL and people doubt his worth, then he wins Rookie of the Year. He'll be back.

What's he gonna do? Run away and not answer his cellphone for three days again?

People still doubt him. What's he done since?

The whole turning up missing for 3 days & then pondering an early retirement thing was pretty much what lead to him losing his starting job in the first place.

I think Vince spent half of last season just not giving a damn for some reason. The future does look bright for him though & seems that having to earn his job back is bringing back the competitor in him.
