Just like Seattle playing Durant at the 2.
those are two completely different situations

Sonics had 2 SFs as rookies, and neither at the time were big enough to play PF, or was good enough at PF at the time to dethrone Wilcox. Durant was the more mobile one over Green, so he played the 2. J Green got bigger and moved to the 4 later (though he's back to the 3 in Boston)

Jameer Nelson is still a Magic, they just want Dipo to learn to play point

The mid 30%s were concerning in the early months and getting back up to the low 40s was solid. Rookie guards are almost never efficient. Lack of respect from officials, don't have an understanding about finishing around NBA level bigs, etc.

He showed real growth in the 2nd half and massive potential but he gets shit on because of a poor first impression with those months
I think with a guy like Waiters you have to understand what he is. I can't see him ever being a real efficient guy, or even around 45%. Well maybe once or twice in his prime, but I think for the majority of his career he'll be a 42% to 43% shooter. He is what he is, he's a guy that will shoot you into some games and shoot you out of some games. And that's ok, imo you need a guy like that on your team. I like him as a asset to a team, but if I had to choose between Oladipo and Waiters it would be Oladipo every single time.

Different situations, same scenario. You play Durant at his natural three position, and he's probably good enough in his rookie year to take you out of the top 3-4 draft slots. You don't get Westbrook, and the "OKC model" doesn't exist. Same thing goes for Oladipo. He'll suffer some growing pains, learn some things, get people excited, but ultimately Orlando theoretically will have a better draft slot because they played him out of position.
