Using CD4s

I need help using CD4s, I can't seem to be able to mix them with the Render, it always seems abnormal when I do it. Any tips would be appreciated.

rule of thumb is to rotate them around and transform.. make them fit the flow of the sig you want...
then try didfferent blends for the best effect

They can also be used for some lighting.

Should you always just set them as linear dodge ?

linear dodge, color dodge, lighten, screen work best with c4d's
