Here's a game I've had success with at my other forum. Posters make upset picks for each week, with an interesting scoring system. I'll lay out the rules below. Note: Upsets determined by general consensus, not Vegas lines. If any of us poses an upset pick that enough posters feel isn't an upset, it'll be nullified.
Each correct upset prediction is worth 3 points. Incorrect picks start at -1 point, but are multiplied by two as they amount, so 2 wrong picks is -2 points, three wrong picks is -4 points, etc.
Each poster can make between 1 and 4 predictions, scoring 12 points total or losing -8 points, at most. I figured having the varying number would allow posters who fall behind to try and recover, or continue to fall back.
I thought we could get a laugh out of those of us who fall deep in the hole. All in good fun.
As we go deeper into the season, I may add a bottom feeder upset option, and lay out certain games that would be absurdly huge upsets. Think Jags over Broncos territory. I might make those worth 5 points, or something larger than 3, anyway.
Anyway, here are my week 3 Upset picks:
Giants over Texans: The Giants played Arizona very very hard, and while it's shameful to lose to Drew Stanton, it's even more shameful to lose to Ryan Fitzpatrick, considering his tendency to turn the ball over. I think the Giants pull off their first win of the season at home, behind interceptions from their revamped secondary, even without Walter Thurmond.
Titans over Bengals: Without AJ Green, Dalton struggles against that Tennessee secondary. Locker recovers from a rough week 2 to pull off a surprising win.
Second note: please try to leave at least a couple of sentences explaining why you think a certain upset can happen. Try not to just find clear upsets and just list them for the hell of it.
