Trevor Ariza won't accept hometown discount

Trevor Ariza's agent David Lee said Monday that the Lakers won't receive a hometown discount from his client.

Lee declined to reveal how much of a raise Ariza will seek when he becomes an unrestricted free agent, but he said his client should make him the most coveted wing player on the market.

Among the teams Lee expects to pursue Ariza are Detroit, Portland and Toronto.

we have enough to keep at least Odom or Ariza, or even go get Artest.
But we would need 2/3.

It could work if one takes a mini pay cut. but if Ariza won't, maybe Odom would. he did say he would.

Odom made 14M this season and Ariza 3M.
In theory if you give Odom 9M, ariza 6M, it's all good.

I think we would still have to pay the luxury tax, but the owner doesnt mind.
i still think the lakers keep both odom and ariza. maybe even shannon brown, but that's pushing it

You guys don't have the cap to sign Artest. You guys are way over even with Odom's and Ariza's contracts gone. The only reason you can re-sign them is because you have their bird rights. You don't have cap to go after someone from another team who's a FA.

I think if the Lakers say peace to Trevor, they can go get Matt Barnes who is almost the same player for cheaper, or even go for a quick fix in Grant Hill for a year.

Not a bad line-up at all, it's either we re-sign the matrix, wait till next year to have more cap space for 2010, or go after Ariza or Artest, or whatever SF or SG that can play SF.
