The Boston Red Sox have traded outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Detroit Tigers for right-hander Rick Porcello, according to multiple reports.

Two other guys coming with Cespedes. We're also talking starting pitching with the Reds. Might not be too bad.

I think Boston has to make another move for a frontline guy, but this is "eh"...I've never been high on Porcello.

Though I will say I had no idea he was only 25.

Not a fan of Porcello, and I think moving to Boston hurts him. Cespedes wasn't that great last year either though

The Detroit Tigers acquired right-hander Alfredo Simon from the Cincinnati Reds for shortstop Eugenio Suarez and pitcher Jonathon Crawford, the clubs announced Thursday at the winter meetings.

Simon, 33, was an All-Star last year in his first full season as a starter. The hard-throwing right-hander threw a career-high 196 1/3 innings last season with a personal-best 127 strikeouts and 15 wins in 32 starts.

More to come.

We just signed Masterson too

We're going with Clay as the "ace", and then a bunch of #3 guys behind Porcello

Good deal for both teams.

I'll miss Porcello. This certainly weakens our starting rotation, but Cespedes does fit a glaring need. Just gotta hope he reverts back to his first season with the A's self, and that our veteran starters step up.

The fact Yoenis is 29 and is only on a 1 year deal kind of bothers me though.

I love how the red sox are over paying for these mediocre pitchers
how is cespedes and two average minor leaguers an overpay for Porcello?

Yoenis was traded because he wasn't a starter anymore. We have Hanley in left, Rusney in center, and Mookie in right. Don't need Ces

cespedes in my eyes is above average after the year he had last year.
