Mark Teixeira has announced that this will be his final season.  He has openly admitted that he has been overpaid for the past few seasons, but has had a great career.  He was at one time one of the most feared hitters in baseball along with being a gold glover at 1B.  Not sure if his peak years are enough to get him into Cooperstown, but he has definitely been a good one.
Happy trails, Tex.

One of the best switch hitters of all-time but I agree not HOF.

Great career, but I think he falls short of making the HOF
I agree, but he probably would have had a chance had it not been for injuries.

With his abilities as a power hitter and an elite defender over his career you could definitely make a case for him being a Hall of Famer, but as it's been said already he likely falls short due to his injuries. Had he been able to play a full season the past 5 years he likely wouldn't be retiring now and would definitely have a chance at 2000 hits and 500 HRs which would have easily got him into the Hall.
