We all know the story of Trent Richardson's failures as an NFL running back. Drafted 3rd overall by Cleveland, Richardson couldn't hack it with the Browns, Colts, or crack the Raiders' lineup. Well he's back with Baltimore and very honest with his past transgressions:

"It's very easy to get lazy in the NFL — not having everything scheduled and not having everything like at Alabama where it was so structured," Richardson said. "We had study hall or we had to get a workout in in between classes and had five classes a day. It was just so structured. In the NFL, everything's on your own."

There were also the family members and friends constantly asking for money to the point, Richardson said, that it became mentally exhausting and took away from his focus on football.

There were countless texts and calls each day. Richardson bought cars for people, somehow got stuck with paying for five funerals that were each at least $12,000 and treated people to unnecessary things like week-long trips to places like Disney World.

"And people still had the nerve to complain about the trip," Richardson said.
Many think Richardson lacks the vision to be an NFL RB but I think that's a load of crap. Its a faster, more skilled level but hitting holes is hitting holes. Richardson hit the nail on the head by admitting his failures were due to the lack of structure he was used to getting at Alabama. Richardson, like so many high-priced kids out of college before him, got lazy and became distracted with money.

The Ravens didn't immediately sign him, instead handing him benchmarks to hit before an "unofficial agreement" could be put in place. T-Rich hit every benchmark, is working out again, and looks to make the most of this last chance. Still has 3rd overall pick ability and the Ravens have always been a great club for RBs. I think this is a great fit for him and at 25, he's still got a lot of miles left.

His problem is that he is too slow. Most guys can get away with that by being punishing backs, but he can't do that either. He's Derrick Henry 1.0 (feel the same way about him). Dominates in college where the game is slower but when he is up against professionals his weaknesses shine through and they cannot be overcome by simply being "better than everyone else". He could be a solid #2 back but he will never live up to the expectations when he was taken 3rd overall.

4.45 isn't blazing speed for a guy who is 5-9, 228. 4.45 for a guy who is Henry's size is a totally different story. Henry is fast for 6-3, 247.
