Drew Stanton will almost certainly be out for the rest of the season.

The Arizona Cardinals discovered an infection Wednesday which required arthroscopic surgery. The infection was believed to have been caused by an outside medical procedure, Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

Stanton has been out since suffering an MCL sprain earlier in the season.

With Carson Palmer out for the season, Stanton had become the Cardinals' starting quarterback.

Ryan Lindley will likely start for the Cardinals in the playoffs.

They had no chance of making it far with even Stanton at QB. Romo (Dallas is Arizona's most likely first round matchup) would have had to melt down, completely. This is probably better for Drew Stanton's ability to walk later in life, haha.

I was rooting for them, too, but they're not going to win @ Dallas unless Romo completely implodes.

They're gonna play the NFC South champ so they might actually have a chance.

They only go to 5 seed if Green Bay wins, right?

I think they have the tie-breaker over GB. Not sure though.

The tiebreaker procedure follows as such:

1. H2H
2. conference record
3. common games record
4. strength of victory
5. strength of schedule

Currently, the Packers have the tiebreaker over Arizona from category 3, as the Packers are 1-1 versus common opponents and the Cardinals are 1-2. Of course, a Packers loss makes that 1-2 as well, which means it goes to category 4.

The Cardinals' 0.485 SOV is greater than GB's 0.415 and DET's 0.388, which means the following

DET win: Cards get 5 seed, Pack get 6
GB win and ARZ win: Lions get 6 seed (Seahawks have priority over DET too incase they lost as well)
GB win + ARZ loss: DET 6 seed, ARZ 5 seed
GB/DET tie + ARZ loss: GB 5 seed, ARZ 6 seed
