Matthew Stafford is quickly learning the Detroit Lions new offensive playbook.

"He's really remarkably bright," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said. "I've heard that he was a smart player, but the speed and ease with which he picks things up has even surprised me, and I had pretty high expectations coming in."

Stafford freely admits the offense is dense, with a heavy amount of new verbiage and an expansive playbook.

Reggie said it's the exact same offense as the time he spent in New Orleans with Michael Lombardi:

ALLEN PARK >> Reggie Bush says he’s quite familiar with the Detroit Lions’ new offense and for good reason.

He and Lions’ offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi spent five years together with the New Orleans Saints.

“It’s exactly the same,’’ Bush said after OTAs on Wednesday.

Its extremely smart to do this, since the Lions have personnel very similar to what the Saints had last year.

Stafford will have Top 5 stats this year

Gonna be cool to see what he can do with more options to pass to in Lombardi's offense.
