So far, how are you liking Xenforo as the new forum setup? What do you like and what don't you like. Have any of you seen any issues/errors?
thanks manYeah, bosox is great to have helping out the forum. Glad he is an admin and still apart of the forum.
Can you post up that list again.First of all, I’d like to say that you owe @bosoxlover12 big time. He’s been working like crazy to try and make this whole thing run right. When I’ve seen flaws in the site, I go to him and he usually fixes them.
As far as the overall platform, I don’t mind it. I still like the old one more, but there’s things you can do here easier than there. When we first moved over, I gave you a list of a lot of functionality that we lost in the merger. Is there any update on getting that back?
Agree with all this. Cosmetically, I liked the look of the avatar space on the old site better and The sig space too. All in all I think it's been fine, just gonna take some time to get used to.New platform looks a little off on mobile. It doesn't give you the ability to "mark as read" with the touch of a button like the old mobile platform, which I liked a lot and will miss.
On PC, I like the fact that you can link an exact post from a thread to another thread with one click. As a sim league GM, it makes posting links to trades and stuff like that very easy.
Like the new "like" feature vs the old upvote/downvote feature. Feels a lot like facebook, which I'm not sure if I like or not yet but I do enjoy the ability to show an emotion with the reaction vs a simple upvote.
All in all, it feels different but over time will feel more like home.
I agree, it looks a little cheesy compared to the old site.Agree with all this. Cosmetically, I liked the look of the avatar space on the old site better and The sig space too.
1) http://www.sportsinsomnia.com/forums/index.php?act=idx is now a broken link, would be nice if that was fixed. Can you post up that list again.
I'll look into seeing if some of those older features can be put back in.1) http://www.sportsinsomnia.com/forums/index.php?act=idx is now a broken link, would be nice if that was fixed.
2) Reputation should show under posts.-- FIXED
3) Back on the old site, you could click on the number of replies of a thread and see the number of replies by user in that thread which was actually really helpful.
4) Search is also dead for basically all posts from before the merge.
5) Tagging members doesn't lead to a notification when it should. -- This works about 50% of the time now
6) We used to be able to click on the SI next to a forum name and it would mark the forum as read, but that appears to not work anymore.
I'll reply to this thread later when I'm not out about forum-specific things, but can you PLEASE give me the full access to the ACP? It's really been annoying having to ask every single time, and still not have it. I know you're working on the FTP (which I still don't get what the issue is), but the ACP access should not be hardI'll look into seeing if some of those older features can be put back in.
I've seen the avatar space designed differently on different Xenforo sites. So we can look in to adjusting it. I don't think ours is that eye appealing either.Agree with all this. Cosmetically, I liked the look of the avatar space on the old site better and The sig space too. All in all I think it's been fine, just gonna take some time to get used to.
We'll get that sorted out. Also we do plan on mass emails going out soon, and we want to make it a weekly thing highlighting new & popular topics and discussions. The sportzin.com domain used to redirect to sportsinsomnia, but that domain expired about a week ago, and now it's a dead link.
IDK how useful that information is, but I had sportzin bookmarked, and I thought the site was gone for about a day before I just googled "sportsinsomnia."
Maybe a mass e-mail to registered users would help bring back some old users that might not know this forum still exists.
Any update?I'll look into seeing if some of those older features can be put back in.
