Should Dwyane Wade accept a smaller role?

The team plays better when he's taking less shots.

They play less Iso and better team basketball.

The past 2 games when Wade and Bosh were out, they won.

Averages in the past 2 games:

Luol Deng 28.5ppg 10.5rpg

Goran Dragic 20.5ppg 6rpg 9apg

I believe Dwyane Wade should take a 6th man role, like Manu Ginobili's role.

He'll still take the clutch shots,

but let Dragic and Deng play their prime years at a high level.

Thoughts?

1) Deng is not in his prime years

2) Wow big shock, two best players on the team don't play so therefore other good players numbers go up!!

Yeah, but the whole team is playing much better. Better ball movement for sure.

Remember the game Wade came off the Bench?

Deng is in his prime. His touches are limited due to his role as the 5th option.

In Chicago, he was the second or third option.

2 games is too small of a sample size to even get the small sample size warning, it should not be even briefly considered.

What you can look at is offensive/defensive ratings (points per 100 possessions); since NBA started using SportVU player tracking 2-3 seasons ago they've had the best stats database of any league in terms of being able to pinpoint a player's impact.

First thing I notice looking at Dwyane Wade's advanced stats is that in the minutes with him on the court the Heat have gotten worse as the season goes on (his turnover rate has gotten significantly worse each month), and there's a huge drop-off for him in the 8 games he's played with 0 days rest (back to backs where he played both). Which is to be expected given his age and the miles on those legs but best way for the Heat to improve is probably just to give him those games off/let him rest more.

And yes, they actually have been better from December on with Wade on the bench (although you have to consider what stats don't show, which is that those minutes come more against the opponent's bench than the minutes with Wade do). So as ridiculous as the premise of this question seems, the Heat might actually be better off with him trying to do less. But again I think the solution is just to give him more rest

I know right hahaha. I remember when he came to the Cavs that one year everyone was hyped (I mean come on we had nothing and LeBron had just left) and I was like "uhhhh guys... You realize this dude is washed right...?" Nothing more than a role player now.

Wade should take a Ginobili role? Lmao I wouldn't mind that since Heat will be worse
