Multiple teams will max him, no doubt about that.

The Cleveland Cavaliers might not offer Kyrie Irving a maximum contract offer because they believe he will not accept, according to a report.

The Cavaliers reportedly do not want to look bad if Irving would decline the deal.

Irving is eligible to sign a new contract with the Cavaliers this offseason.

This is exactly what I was talking about. No matter what the Cavs plan to do, it's going to be swung in a way that makes them look bad, no matter what.

The Cavs could offer the max, have it accepted, no one will remember this thread, and then they'll go on different crusades.

But is it worth maxing Kyrie when it's already obvious you need to give him a really good roster to even be playoff contenders?

Would you rather let him walk? He's a top 10 talent in the league.

He's a top 10 talent. I don't even think it's debateable

I can name ten players that are more skilled than Kyrie. Getting out of the top 10, is where it gets debatable. Don't get me wrong, he's very very talented, top 15, but does having pretty dribble moves or being able to play well in glorified pick up games make him that talented?

Aren't those games where sheer talent shines through more than anything?

Name ten players more skilled. He's the best ball handler in the league. He's a great shooter. He's a good distributor. I don't think he's a top 10 player in the league but talent-wise he's easily one of the most talented guys in the NBA

Yes, but I wouldn't let him walk walk The best option for the Cavs, imo, is a sign and trade. He doesn't want to be there and he doesn't make anybody on his team any better. I'm not paying him an absurd contract when I just got the #1 pick, for a miraculous 3rd time in 4 years, and I can draft my next superstar.

Also, CUT Thompson unless someone gives you something for him. Keep Dion and Bennett and start fresh with Wiggins or Embiid.

There's no reason for Cleveland to take a chance on adding a gigantic cap hit to a really poor roster.

You need more than one superstar to win titles in the NBA

Some of these semantics I'm reading in this thread are just so unnecessary.

Top 10: GOOD LORD
Top 15: yeah ok

Who gives a shit
