As we've toured the Oakland area during our coverage of the Finals, every high school we've visited has included a locker room poster of backup Cleveland Point Guard Matthew Dellavedova. At Far West High School, we talked to sophomore Eric Creen, a 5'7 JV player, who raved about his favorite player. "Whenever I see Delly flail around and accomplish absolutely nothing on defense, it gives me hope that, if I dive for a loose ball that I can't possibly get, coach might move me up to varsity." Far West head coach Terry Stanton stood in the background, nodding his head and ready to contribute to the conversation. "I hope that Eric's willingness to dive at real basketball players' knees can help us win some games down the road. I know that he doesn't have a future in basketball, but that doesn't mean he can't take away somebody else's."

He just played Curry exceptionally last night. Nobody's saying Delly is an All-Pro, but he's absolutely a backup level PG. In fact, I'd argue he might be the best backup PG on a LeBron James team in LBJ's 12 year career

An Eric Snow vs. Matthew Dellavedova debate would be the most SI thing ever.

He was the biggest reason they won that game on Sunday

I'd argue LeBron is more deserving of that title

Game 2 specifically?  Dellavedova hit several big baskets, made a lot of hustle plays, and locked down the MVP

Obviously they don't win without LeBron either

I don't think Dellavedova locked down Curry, that entire thing is being overblown. Iman Shumpert probably spent more time on Curry, I'd go as far as to say if Shumpert was in the game then he was the preferred matchup on Steph. For example, of Stephs missed 3's like 62% of them were defended by someone other than Delly. He forced Curry into five misses.

I'd say the real problem with Curry is that he's tight, just off a little, and bad shot selection. His double pump step through leaning three pointer with 9 seconds on the shot clock, 4 dribble crossover and shot over Tristan Thompson with 17 seconds left on the shot clock, shot over LeBron and Thompson with 19 seconds left on the shot clock, and so on. He also missed a number of good lucks.

Eh, Shumpert has been running straight into screens directly and giving up openings as a result. He is very mediocre off ball, and they're running him off a lot of screens, it's not a good match up for him

Dellavedova was giving up open shots as well. Curry was struggling mostly because his shot wasn't falling, not because of what Cleveland did defensively.

Dellevedova is relentless on defense and has done a good job on Curry. Curry did miss shots he would normally hit, but this isnt new. He played good D on Rose and then Teague and now on Curry.

I don't like flailing fake hustle players, and when you factor in that the poor kid looks like Dane Cook, it gets worse. Just like Dane Cook is a shitty comedian, Matthew Dellavedova is a shitty NBA player.
