lol. At those dollar amounts, I'd take Gobert, Embiid, and maybe DJ over Capela @ 18 million. Capela has steadily improved in the Rockets system and still has room to grow. Sure more of those guys are better than him, but some of them have a ton of miles on their bodies, or are simply paid too much. This is a great deal is the point of that tweet
 
I think teams were hesitant to offer Capela big money because there is still uncertainty over whether the system made the player, or if Capela is that good on his own. Honestly, i think he owes a great deal of his success to CP3 and Harden, but the tools are there. He is a plus defender, and showed last year that he can finish at the rim with the best of them.

Embiid, Horford, Gasol are the only 3 who are demonstrably better than Capela. Drummond and Gobert are arguably better but more limited offensively.

He can score the ball because he has two of the best passers in basketball throwing him lobs. Gobert is arguably the best defensive big in basketball. Capela is a good defender, but saying theyre a tier apart defensively is like saying LeBron and Derozan are only one tier apart as players
