Restricted free agency means you have the right to match any contract offer for your player, assuming still that you have either the cap space or bird rights to sign the player. The following players are eligible for restricted free agency this offseason:
- 2019 Rookie Draft 1st Round Picks (Link) who are coming off the end of their rookie contract (were not previously waived).
- Any player with three or less years of experience (including this year) who has not already signed a qualifying offer before.
Please post here if you wish to extend a qualifying offer to any of your players eligible for restricted free agency. Keep in mind that all qualifying offers will have cap holds (130%-150% of current salary for all 2019 first round picks, 125% of current salary for others or the minimum salary +200K). Also keep in mind that if you extend a qualifying offer to a player who doesn't sign in free agency, they will return to you on a one-year contract equal to the qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent the following season. You can renounce the qualifying offer at any time. You are also still free to offer a player who has signed the QO a contract in free agency, so long as it isn't an exception and the base salary value exceeds that of the qualifying offer.
These cap holds will be added to your waived salaries until the player has signed. If you have any other questions or need clarification on anything, feel free to ask here.
I'll edit in the cap holds to the post. No need to figure that out yourselves.
You have until the off-season starts to decide.
