I'm with Baggs and Yanks standpoint actually

I guess we'll have to see how this plays out though. I don' think Horton will do much actually
Horton's only 24 and c'mon guys, he's been a Florida Panther his entire career. You don't think Horton can shine if inserted into Boston's line-up?

Exactly. Horton is young and has good talent. He could easily score 30-35 goals with some good talent around him.

It's official

General Manager Dale Tallon has begun his rebuilding of the Florida Panthers.

The club sent forwards Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell to the Boston Bruins for defenceman Dennis Wideman, the 15th overall pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft and an undisclosed draft pick.

The 25-year old Horton has scored 20 or more goals in each of the last five seasons.
After being drafted third overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the Welland, Ontatio native amassed 142 goals, 153 assists, and 295 points in his six-year career with the Panthers.

The 26-year old Campbell, recorded 2 goals and 15 assists in 60 games last season. In 363 career games, the forward has totaled 29 goals and 56 assists.

Wideman, who tallied 6 goals and 24 assists in 76 games with the Bruins in 2009-10, should help bring some offence to the Panthers' defensive corps. In the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, he recorded 13 goals each year.

The 15th overall pick in the draft was expendable in large part to the fact that the Bruins have the second selection already due to last season's Phil Kessel trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Holy shiznit, an even better deal for the Bruins than what rumors were initially indicating. Horton adds some needed strength to the RW for Boston and you figure he's first line after Recchi's career comes to an end, aka within a year. Not a bad move for the Panthers either, although they're basically swapping one players' $4M contract for another. Either way, the Panthers are showing a commitment to defense, something they've lacked for a long time.

Gregory Campbell is the wildcard in all this and I am starting to wonder if the Bruins will in fact trade Savard. The team is already deep at Center and Campbell is an RFA.

I think they're going to explore trading Ryder and Thomas first before Savard. Lucic and Horton on Savard's wings could be a pretty scary thing. And I doubt they'd trade Savard for anything less than a Top 10 (maybe Top 5) draft pick. The depth at center could also mean that they might be fully behind the idea of putting Seguin on the wing rather than at center. I really don't know what Chiarelli has in mind because he still has to get Boychuk and Stuart new contracts and they aren't exactly overflowing with cap space.

All I know is that, hopefully, things should be clearer after friday.

Which is why I am confident Savard is dealt to Columbus very soon.
