Report: Lamar Odom using 'hardcore' drugs?

The celebrity-news website TMZ.com claims that Lamar Odom has been using "hardcore recreational drugs" for most of the past two years.

We're viewing this report with skepticism until it's confirmed by more sources, but it does include numerous supporting details. Odom reportedly went to rehab last August and was drug-free during the NBA season, but relapsed this summer and was thrown out of his house by Khloe Kardashian after a "failed intervention" on Wednesday. The Clippers were reportedly waiting for Odom to agree on a one-year, $1.4 million contract and it's unclear whether these latest reports will have any bearing on the negotiations.

This is a guy who's clearly tortured by the things he's seen in the past. It's the reason I'm hesitant to criticize the guy too heavily. How many of us have seen the shit he's seen? I can't imagine handling that.

Ill agree there. The man has seen some of the worst things any human being could be expose to. His dad is another issues he's had to deal with his entire life.

As a new report details the drug addiction that’s threatening to destroy Lamar and Khloe Kardashian’s marriage, a source close to the family tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY what pushed the NBA star to substance abuse.
Lamar Odom is reportedly going through the toughest battle of his life right now.Khloe Kardashian is dedicated to helping her husband get clean, but a source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that they will be fighting to overcome immense pressure from Lamar’s professional life — and maybe even genetics.

Lamar Odom’s Drug Addiction Revealed
Lamar is battling an addiction to crack cocaine, according to TMZ. The 33-year-old reportedly started abusing the drug two years ago before checking into a rehab facility in Aug. 2012.
After the stint Lamar was able to stay clean through the NBA season, but once it ended he fell back to his old ways and began using again.
Khloe and her family have since reportedly tried to get Lamar to go back to rehab, but he has been resistent.

Lamar Odom: What Led To His Drug Use
Lamar’s drug addiction is obviously shocking, but a source explains to HollywoodLife.com exclusively what drove him to it — a mix of professional stress, mortality, and early exposure. “He’s got a lot of pressure on him,” the source says, “to lose weight and get in shape so his mobility can improve on the court.”
It’s no secret in the NBA world that Lamar’s career is winding down — he’s not the player he once was. But the source suggests that he’s not ready to retire, and the pressure to maintain a high level of performance has been more overwhelming than ever. “He’s almost out of a job, he’s just trying to keep his head above water,” the source says.
But it’s not just that — the source also adds that drug addiction runs in Lamar’s family. “It’s in his blood,” says the source. “He’s seen people turn to drugs when things weren’t going so well in their lives, so he did what was familiar.”
Lamar has inherited a horrible disease — which is what drug addiction is.
But at the very least Lamar now has a positive support system, in Khloe and the rest of her family, who love him and will stand by him as he fights through this.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
This article states its crack cocaine, the same drug his father was into.

I wouldn't be to quick top believe everything that comes out on this. Once the initial story ran of him being addicted to something, it's natural for writers to start sensationalizing and just making up their own back story to gain viewers.

I know. TMZ is over does it. However, RealGM posted a TMZ report stating that Khloe has officially reported Lamar missing for the last 72 hours. They claim it started two years ago... Probably when the Lakers just upped and traded him to Dallas... Hope this man can fight his demons. Lamars a great ball player and overcame odds from NYC and then playing at Rhode Island. If I was in the Lakers shoes Id reach out and give him a second chance and help him through his hard time. Ive read that him and Kobe have a strong relationship and maybe thats what he needs to get by this dark time.

Honestly though, would you go back? I probably wouldn't. Just pull a Chappelle and get the hell away for a few years.

Lamar Odom is not missing and maintains his desire to play in the NBA next season, according to agent Jeff Schwartz.
"Lamar is not missing. His wife knows exactly where he is," Schwartz said. "Playing in the NBA is still very much a part of Lamar's plans."
TMZ reported Sunday that Odom has been missing for 72 hours after a dispute with wife Khloe Kardashian. TMZ also reported that people close to Odom feared that he was involved with drugs.
Odom has been pursued in free agency by the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers expressed "some interest" in Lamar Odom early in free agency, but they are no longer interested in signing the veteran forward, according to a source.
Odom helped the Lakers win back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.
Odom has reportedly had issues with drugs this offseason.

The season is still a long way away. He should try and rehab again.

Lamar Odom arrested for DUI Friday morning

Lamar Odom was arrested for "driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs" early Friday morning, according to TMZ.

According to the report, he was pulled over in the San Fernando Valley at 3:54 a.m. for going too slow, and did not respond to cops, driving past three exits before finally coming to a stop. Odom "failed numerous field sobriety tests" and when he was booked, he "refused all chemical tests." It's been a disastrous offseason for Odom with this news and additional reports of "hardcore" drug abuse.
