Report: Dwyane Wade to Sign Deal Paying About $15 Million a Year

Reading the tea leaves based on the Miami Heat offseason moves so far, ESPN estimates that free agent Dwyane Wade will earn roughly $15 million per season with his new contract:

Based on Heat's moves yesterday & their commitments, appears Dwyane Wade lining up for a deal that starts at about $15 million
— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) July 15, 2014

Heat renounced rights to Udonis Haslem yesterday. If they stick with their 2-year plan, he seems headed for $2.7M room mid-level.

That contract is fucking great. 1+1 and even less than his option from his last contract.

He can prove himself this season and get a better contract next year, if not we're super flexible for 2016.

You'd think LeBron has ended his professional relationship with Wade, especially with a 34 year old Wade.

Wade doesn't seem to be the guy to go ring chasing in Cleveland.

So here's a fun exercise.

If Wade had said "I've had a great 11 years in Miami, 3 titles blah blah blah, but I think it's time to move on and see what else the league has to offer."

How much does he get on the open market?

When I had thought about it prior to his signing, I said 8M is probably the best price but he would probably get 11-12M, unless a team really wanted him and could make him the face of the franchise (think a Charlotte) and they could say "hey, come play in Charlotte and we'll give you 2-3M more than anyone else.
