TSN.CAThe Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies could be talking a blockbuster involving Jose Bautista.
According to Howard Eskin of FOX Philadelphia and WIP Radio, the two teams are in serious talks on a deal that would see the four-time All Star and two-time home run champion return to the Senior Circuit and the Phillies. It is believed that outfielder Domonic Brown and more would head back to the Blue Jays.
The 33-year-old Bautista has two years remaining on a five-year, $64 million deal with an option for another season.
Durability has been a concern in recent years for the Dominican-born slugger. Bautista missed 70 games in 2012 with a left wrist injury and a left hip bruise saw his 2013 season end on September 4th.
Brown is coming off of a breakout year for the Phillies where he hit .272 with 27 home runs and 83 RBI. The 26-year-old was named an All-Star for his efforts. Brown becomes arbitration-eligible following the 2014 season.
If the Phillies were to acquire Bautista, he could be used primarily at third base as Philadelphia brought aboard OF Marlon Byrd on a two-year deal on Tuesday.
