The Reds weren't able to re-sign reliever Arthur Rhodes, which has freed up some money to add an outfielder and shortstop.

It was reported earlier in the week that Cincinnati has spoken to the representatives for Scott Podsednik and Edgar Renteria.

"What we're looking for is a veteran outfielder, preferably a left-handed hitting outfielder, and an infielder who can back up at shortstop," general manager Walt Jocketty said.

Apparently Renteria was insulted by the Giants offer, so him going to the Reds is a possibility, and would be a great pick up for them.

Scott Podsednik wouldn't be bad, he can hit and still has really good speed. I'm just hoping Drew Stubbs keeps improving for the Reds at CF, he's got a lot of talent. Just needs to cut down all those strikeouts.

He was my sleeper in fantasy last year.

The Reds signed Jeremy Hermida and Todd Frazier should get a shot at some point this year.
