Benching one of your "big three" has got to be hard. That being said, with age starting to set in on both Pierce and Allen, I don't think anyone could blame them for making the move. Green will be reading to step in and play a bigger role next year, so I expect them to at least seriously look into making the starting switch.Ray Allen has been open to the idea of coming off the bench behind Jeff Green.
GM Danny Ainge has been the one floating this notion that the Celtics would be better off starting Green over Ray Allen or Paul Pierce. The idea is to save the veteran's legs while also making the Celtics more athletic in their starting five. But when push comes to shove, we don't see coach Doc Rivers pulling the trigger on this move. Allen and Pierce have earned too much respect to not be in the starting five.
