Nice ! We need Lowry if we desire to make a run ...But I still believe we need to add one more piece to our starting 5

Yeah the Raps need Lowry for the playoffs and they should probably extend him too. Seems he's a good fit there

They need him to get to the second round? Not sure what the point in keeping him is unless they can extend him long term.

I think getting out of a round of the playoffs helps increase player confidence and can be a key to resigning him

Agreed. Not sure what CC and some others (not necessarily at this site) don't see.

Because if you don't just jump into championship contention, it's not worth it, am I right? sarcasm alert

Whereas the two best teams in the league right now have been built, and continue to build, on the kind of development that Toronto is undergoing right now. They have a very nice nucleus of young players who haven't even peaked yet, along with a PG who can lead them.

Anybody have any idea why there's so much hate for Valencunas? The dude posts a double double on most nights and is at least something of an inside presence. We're not talking about some useless big who can't do anything.

The Raptors also have a very nice bench. I wouldn't be surprised if they give either Indiana or Miami a series in the playoffs.

Don't think you read my post right. If they can extend him, he's a good PG and they should keep him. But if they feel he's going to walk, you have to get something for him.

Both of which are more enticing than Toronto.

This is also a good point but like I said getting to the 2nd round builds confidence in a team and creates a culture where people wanna stick around. Lowry also has to see that this is his best fit and he shouldn't throw away a good thing at this point he's a journey man who should be happy to have found a home in Toronto

Can't see how LAL is more enticing than Toronto given their situation

Because LAL is one free agency class and a healthy Kobe away from contending again? Plus it's LA.

What this essentially comes down to is if Kyle wants to build something or if he definitely wants to contend. He could be the David West type who wants to be part of another franchise becoming a contending time. That, or he could be the guy who knows the best places to be in the NBA in order to have chances at championships. It definitely depends on the kind of person he is.

Can you imagine Houston with Kyle Lowry or Goran Dragic at PG, right? We had BOTH of them 2 years ago. Goddammit!

They did but I also think it's not fair to say that either player would have turned out to be the exact same player. Both were handed the keys to the offense on their new team and that helped their development, whereas Houston runs a lot of their offense through Harden. I'm not saying that either wouldn't be better than Beverly, because it's light years. But I don't think either would be the all-star snub that they are now.

Yeah, they may have been minimized to three point shooters when Harden's on the floor, but both play something that resembles defense, unlike Jeremy Lin. I still can't believe we wasted money on him.

I mean, Jeremy legitimately tries to play defense, and now and then he puts in good games (he's actually had a very nice defensive performance versus Dame), but it's far too rare.
