Giroux is also in talks (but he is a RFA at the end of 2013-2014).

Nonis really has to pick it up on Kessel. Dude will get 7.5+ on the open market.

Don't care if Phaneuf is resigned. He is the captain, so it is likely (better be on a hometown discount). We got Gardiner and Rielly in the system, and Franson made progress this season, so we'll be fine.

There's always the hope of signing Letang :)

Yeah, the Wings aren't gonna be making any big moves in FA'cy anytime soon I don't think. Probably just use the cash on extensions for the young guys.

Although I do like the idea of getting Nyquist some weapons to work with.

Only problem, to who? At least teams can retain salary now. Plus isn't your owner going through a divorce or something making a buyout unlikely (with other buyout candidates being likely i.e Booth and Ballard).

My money is on Vanek staying in Buffalo or going to Minnesota.

I feel Buffalo will completely change the face of their team. Miller could be gone in the off season, and they'll not want to spend the big bucks to resign Vanek if they have rebuild years a head of them.

I really feel that Mark Streit will not work out in Philadelphia, like most of their signings

Miller will be gone.

Have a feeling the Sabres will get Bobby Ryan. There's been a few times that we were rumored to be trying to get him in a trade with the Ducks.

Like PTT said, Sabres are in full on rebuilding mode. Going to change the whole franchise around, imo. Gonna miss Vanek though if he leaves.

Kaberle and Komisarek are both being bought out.

Just for shits, lets bring Kaberle back. I missing when he had open nets and wouldn't shot the fucking puck

Letang's case could become interesting , I feel there is a chance he might end up on a new team

He would be good in Renney's Rangers team.

I'm really liking the rumours of Phaneuf being in play

I think using Phaneuf as a scapegoat is just as bad as doing it to Reimer. Phaneuf was never worth his contract, but he's no scrub defender. He needs a better defenseman to cover his mistakes. Franson was/is not that guy.

Believe me I know Phaneuf is a number one defenceman (number two at worse). It's just fun to rip on him.

There are probably only about fifteen defencemen I would rather have over Phaneuf as of today (based on being in their prime)

The latest from around the league:

The Wild has also expressed interest in Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury, who backstopped Pittsburgh to the 2009 Stanley Cup but has struggled in the playoffs the past two seasons and was ultimately unseated by Tomas Vokoun in this year’s playoffs. Fleury has not asked for a trade, however.

After Backstrom resigning, I believe this becomes a lot less likely. Vokoun is out of his prime, so in a couple of years, who would be between the pipes?

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 11m
Teams not using buyouts... Calgary, Columbus, New Jersey for sure. Imagine more added here in next few days.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 33s
More teams not expected to use buyouts: Stars, Penguins, Jets, Canes, Sabres, Ducks. Window to do so opens 48 hours after Cup handed out.

Sucks. I was really hoping for some buyouts to add to free agency activity. Mainly expect the wealthier teams to use them such as Toronto, New York, Montreal, Vancouver, Chicago, Boston, and Detroit.

osh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey 10s

Hearing Leafs have had discussions with Oilers about Sam Gagner. Leafs are looking for a young centre and he certainly fits the bill.

update:
Josh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey 5m

Vancouver has also has discussions about Gagner as Sam's dad Dave is part of Canucks MGMT.

Outside of an eight point game and being nasty at shootouts, I have never seen the hype. Do not want, especially considering I have read Edmonton wants quite a bit (read Gardiner somewhere, fuck that). He has yet to reach 50 points in his career, and his career high came in his rookie campaign.

Letang to Toronto is looking like a possibility.

I wouldn't be happy if Rielly is going the other way.

Bringing an emotionally erratic, high priced goaltender to Philly seems like a good idea
