He says that a lot, about a lot of teams lol. I want to see either Collins or Avery but I really want to see Laimbeer head Assistant Coach.

Johnson appears to be the front-runner to replace Michael Curry, who was suddenly fired Tuesday on the eve of the NBA's free-agency period. Dumars has said he wants an experienced coach to lead the Pistons as he tries to shape the roster into an Eastern Conference contender.

Although Dumars declined to reveal if the search for Michael Curry's replacement would be expanded, multiple league sources contacted on Friday said at least one more veteran coach was likely to get consideration for the job if a deal with Johnson wasn't reached soon.

The only known candidates for the job besides Johnson are former Piston and ex-Shock coach Bill Laimbeer, and Cleveland assistant and former Pistons assistant John Kuester.

If Dumars were to expand the search, one option might be Mike Fratello, who is reportedly a candidate for the vacant Minnesota Timberwolves job.

Fratello, an analyst for TNT, has enjoyed success coaching in Cleveland, Atlanta and most recently, Memphis.

I agree on the Bill as AC part. I really want Avery to take over with Laimbeer as assistant.

Pistons president Joe Dumars is scheduled to meet with Avery Johnson later this weekend, according to sources.

After discussing Detroit's coaching vacancy by phone, Dumars and Johnson have planned to meet Sunday at Johnson's home in Houston.

Former Pistons coach Doug Collins pulled out of consideration for the job earlier this week.

Me and Rip have been on the Hire Avery bandwagon for three years, right when people in Dallas started hating him.

Hire anyone you want, at most Pistons will only be the #4 team in the East (or worse, which I am expecting)

Exactly. Our dream is becoming a reality haha.

I don't even care how we do under him, I just want a fan favorite as a coach. Flip and Curry were BLEH.

Flip was a good coach. But he didn't appeal to the fans, he was kind of soft spoken and just sat there.
Curry is a moron.

Avery is loud and annoying, and a good coach.
