The Pirates have extended outfielder Gregory Polanco for the next five seasons with two option years, tweets Jeff Passan of Yahoo. The deal is expected to be in the mid-$30MM range and will be announced next week. Polanco, 24, was previously controllable through 2020. The extension will guarantee those seasons. If Pittsburgh picks up both options, he can reach free agency after the 2022 season – his age 30 campaign. Polanco is a client of Beverly Hills Sports Council.

Probably not. It still won't be better than Marte's, in my opinion.

Also, I'm sick of the Pirates getting these deals. It's great business, but it's annoying as fuck.

Thats the only way the Pirates can stay competitive. The players need to buy into the organizational philosophy. The organization has to show loyalty to the players as well.

Wow, nice and cheap for the Pirates. I expect Polanco to be a solid player so good deal.

Damn that's a good deal. I really hope he works out for the Pirates... I was really high on him (like everyone else) when he was in the minors.

The NL Central is a clusterfuck of talent.
