Statistically, MJ is going to win every time.
LeBron going to Miami killed his legacy. There is no doubting that.
He will not go down as the best ever solely because of that.

I think people need to stop getting hardon for Michael cause dude played when we weren't even born and shit, and just cause we watch his game films he is some sort of patron saint that can't be fucked with because that is how everyone perceived him. You ask my dad who the best ever was, he doesn't even say MJ.

Ultimately though, I don't think the two can be compared. It's apples to oranges.
Your dad must be upset over this still...

You know this a dumb statement rip. So just because we weren't born to see what guys like MJ/Magic/Bird/Russell and etc weren't doing when they were doing it we can't appreciate it or go back and marvel at the talent or their accomplishments. Let's keep it real.. of course your dad wont say MJ is the goat after what he did to the bad boys lol.

My point is, people these days make it a sin to say MJ wasn't the greatest to ever play.
As you can tell, I'm already getting flamed for having a different opinion, as will Pippen.
It's not a fact MJ was the GOAT, it is an opinion. And that is what pisses me off.

I don't even see how you can have a GOAT in a game where the positions vary in such a way.
Isiah Thomas said some real ass shit when he said pound for pound he was probably the best to ever play or whatever. Of course a dude of that size had no legitimate chance of becoming the best player to ever play the game.
It just goes to show how you can't pinpoint just one dude out of the thousands of players to ever play the game as the best. Like how do you compare centers to forwards, to point guards. You can't.

I'll agree with you that it is hard to compare a PF/C to a PG, but LeBron is a SF, Michael is a SG, the comparison isn't that hard there, since they are both wing/perimeter players. If somebody were to say Bill Russell/Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest of all-time, that's a different story, because there really is no comparison to Michael there.

I think their games are too different to compare and say who is better.
If you are talking Kobe and MJ, I believe those two are much more easily comparable.

I remember all the LBJ vs. Kobe debates we have had here. A large number of people who say you can't compare the two because of how different their games were. I see it no different for LBJ and MJ.

It isnt even a guarantee Isiah was the greatest little man ever to play. It all varies on what you look for a player. If you value winning/defense above all then its probably Russell. If you like numbers then its wilt or kareem. It all varies on what you measure out to be the perfect player or the ultimate guy you'd want on your team. The common perception is that MJ was that guy. But it all depends on what you value in a player. But arguments can be made for a different 5-6 guys to be the goat.

My point exactly. Let's leave it at that.

Just so happens LeBron isnt one of the guys yet. But all of our tones could change regarding that in 3-5 years.

Understandable.I just didn't understand why some people made it seem like this was ground breaking news lol.
Believe me though, I fully and completely understand your opinion and can respect exactly why you think that lol.
And like I said, MJ will still go down as the GOAT.

Why is everyone acting like this is shocking news? lol.
LeBron probably won't go down as the best to ever play, cause of the legacy Michael left.
But talent wise and what not, I find it hard disagreeing with what Scottie said.
League is much more talented these days too IMO. I truly think if you put LeBron back in the 80's, he absolutely runs the league, even harder than Jordan did.
Pippen didn't say Lebron was the greatest talent in NBA history, he said greatest player, which he certainly is not.

MJ is the best ever, and it isn't even close. If he really wanted too, he could have averaged 50 a game and made it look easy.. I honestly believe that.

I'm just sick of people constantly comparing LeBron and MJ. They are on different levels than each other. There's no reason to compare them. When I first heard Scottie say this, my thoughts were "Why Scottie?" because he knows this is just going to add fuel to the conversation that should never have happened to begin with. Not ever guy needs to be compared to somebody. Just let LeBron play the game, as himself.
