Probably a dumb question, but is SD your firm? Or is it for a client?

Good work on the mark. The typeface/font-layout doesn't go with the style of it, though.

Really not a fan of the website mock-up tbh. Looks very outdated with all the drop-shadows/gradients and again doesn't go with the look of the very modern mark you have.

hmmm the gold highlight looks good but the text is just too heavy, and clunky. The caps and the tagline making a perfect box with the name makes it very stiff and rigid in contrast to the dynamic mark next to it. Having "design" in the name and the tagline is redundant as well and I don't think you need the tagline, anyways. The logo will very rarely stand alone and most applications will be in the context of your work (website, business card, etc).

Just threw this together real quick to show you what I mean...

Pretty much everything said here, although "design" looks out of place here as well.
Have you tried altering the font to make it more customized/fine tuned to the logo? Kind of like the dot on the "i" seen here

im getting so mad now, I dont want a playful font, and i dont want design elements in the type...
i can understand if the logo itself is a type but YO...

anyway, here's some concepts i came up with

I think the one i sat next to the mark could work with the right adjustments and color combination
let me know what ya think

Why are you getting mad? The most important trait of any type of designer is having thick skin and being able to take positive and negative feedback in stride. Without that you won't make it very far.

Anyways, I don't recall suggesting anything "playful". I said your mark is modern and dynamic, so the type should have the same feel without taking any of the focus away from it. The new type treatment you posted next to the mark is moving in the right direction but the larger font and elaborate "D" puts more emphasis on "Design" than "Serging". Is that what you're trying to accomplish? I would suggest taking a step back to think about what exactly you're trying to convey with this logo and then try to execute it in the simplest way possible. I would also take a look at logos with similar styles and what kind of type treatments they use. There's a lot of great work on logopond and it's a resource I use a lot http://logopond.com/gallery/?month=&year=&filter=&page=1

Nice. That font definitely works better. Still simple but has a little more character to it that goes with the mark. "Design" is riding all up on "Serging" so I'd move it down a bit and maybe make the "D" a tiny bit smaller? Idk. Def a lot better, though. Good work.

Should be sodium chloride though, if we're being real.
