According to CBS Sports, there is "more than some remote possibility" the Patriots are preparing to shop Wes Welker.

[background=rgb(201, 202, 207)]The word comes via "several league sources." Trading Welker and the salary remaining on his one-year, $9.5 million franchise tender would certainly make more sense than reducing him to a bit player, but it's hard to ever truly know what's going on behind the scenes in New England. Randy Moss was dealt in a walk year, but under vastly difference circumstances. This year's trade deadline is October 30.[/background]
and:

[background=rgb(201, 202, 207)]Julian Edelman was on the field for 15-of-18 plays when the Patriots went two-wide Sunday.[/background]
[background=rgb(201, 202, 207)]In other words, Edelman was the clear No. 2 wideout. He started ahead of Wes Welker and was poised for a huge lead in snaps until Aaron Hernandez (ankle) went down. That forced the Patriots to run more three-wide sets, getting Welker on the field. Regardless, ESPN Boston suggests that Edelman is on the field in two-wide sets thanks to his blocking more than his pass-catching. Through two games, he has just eight catches for 64 yards with no touchdowns. [/background]

Its because Stevan Ridley is running the ball so well

Edelman is a far better blocker than Welker, and is going to be millions cheaper. If Ridley can play the way he is now, when Hernandez comes back, we have 3 good blockers out there who can catch the ball well, and someone who will spread the field and keep the defense honest (Lloyd)

It was obvious we were never going to re-sign him. Its not like contract extensions were really going anywhere; Wes was probably told that unless he was willing to take what Edelman will get, he wasn't going to be re-signed. Pats know he's worth more than they'd pay him in value, and thats why he's on the TB. I love ya Wes, but your time is up

If we trade him, I doubt its to the Jets

Bucs, Rams, Jags, Vikings are most likely suitors

I've read that those would be the most likely destinations as well, though it could be just speculation.

None of those teams make sense because they're all bad teams.

Wes is the best player in the NFL at getting separation... I'm pretty sure the Jags would love to get him

Plus it's not like his value is that high, can't be more than a 4th founder I'd guess
