With Jerod Mayo sidelined for 6-8 weeks, the Patriots were thought to be dialing up Junior Seau or Tedy Bruschi...however The Boston Herald says that may not be the case:
The Herald's Ian Rapoport is citing an unknown source in reporting that the Patriots are considering a Derrick Brooks signing. According to Rapoport's souce: "They're kicking it around."
The Patriots may need to finish kicking this around sooner than later...as news of this may propel Chicago to make the call to Brooks first. Brooks would be a great fit for the team, not only for his play but for his leadership. With the departures of Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi and Richard Seymour, Mayo was expected to play the leadership role in the defense.
Rumors are that the Patriots would shift Adalius Thomas to the inside and play Brooks on the outside.
