NEW YORK With his starting job gone and his playing time slashed, Rockets center Omer Asik has asked to be traded, two individuals with knowledge of the request said Thursday.

Asik, who started every game after signing with the Rockets last season, came off the bench Wednesday in Philadelphia, but struggled. He played only four minutes and not at all in the second half. Asik has made his trade request within the past 48 hours, a person familiar with the conversations said.

The Rockets have no trade involving Asik in the works, with one individual saying a deal is more likely in months than in days.

Asik declined comment, referring questions to his agent, Andy Miller. Miller also would not comment on any trade request.

This. He deserves to play more than 4 minutes and unless Houston's guards decide to defend, he'll play sparing minutes to rest Dwight. The pair can play very well together, but the backcourt has to play D, which Houston's has pretty much refused to.

Yeah, that's obviously false, but I do think Boston should be interested in Asik.

Yall absolutely should be, but you probably do not even have the pieces to get him.

We'd take Jeff Green off your hands :p.

And seriously, bosox. I don' care how you're set up, you guys need a rebounder and defensive presence. How does that NOT improve your team?

This pic sums it up perfectly

In an effort to unload disgruntled center Omer Asik, the Houston Rockets have engaged in trade talks with multiple teams and are demanding an impact player in return, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Rival executives say that Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has been active in discussing possible deals for Asik, but his asking price has been too high so far. Morey has been willing to accommodate Asik's summertime trade request, but so far has found little traction on possible deals.

Unless a team is willing to give the Rockets a frontline player who can help them win in the short-term, Morey is open to acquiring a largely unprotected first-round pick in the loaded 2014 NBA draft, sources said.

Kind of the same thing here:

The Houston Rockets are engaged in trade talks with multiple teams on Omer Asik, but the asking price of Daryl Morey has been far too high for a deal to get completed.

Asik's agent has been in regular contact with Morey about facilitating a trade.

The Rockets are seeking an impact frontcourt player that can help them in the short-term, or a largely unprotected first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

A deal involving Asik is unlikely to be consummated before December 15 when players signed in the offseason become eligible for trades.

The Rockets are interested in trading Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans for Ryan Anderson. Anderson previously played with Dwight Howard during their time together with the Orlando Magic.

Asik has two seasons and $20 million remaining on his contract.

we're 13th in rebounding and 7th in blocks. And were 22nd in rebounds allowed. We have the 7th best scoring defense. Our problem isn't defense. Our teams weakness is that our offense isn't great; 23rd in ppg, 21st in 3pt%, 24th in turnovers. Why would I want a guy who's per 36 right now is 8.7ppg/12.6rpg/0.4apg/1.0bpg. Sullinger plays the same minutes log basically, and his per 36 is 20.6ppg/9.4rpg/2.1apg/1.6bpg

We have tons of bigmen, we don't need another. We have Kelly, Sully, Bass, Faverani, & Humph. Adding an Omer Asik does not help our scoring problem lol

No, but he's significantly better than all of them, except perhaps Bass. You add a better player, you get a better team. Especially when that player isn't going to dominate the ball and throw anything out of whack.

The Celtics as a team are 16th in offensive rebounding, 30th in defensive rebounding, 25th in total rebounding.

Why are we even discussing the Celtics in this? They're not a good team, Asik makes no sense for them.
