A Florida Wedding Planner Is Fighting To Discriminate Against Same-Sex Couples And Her Name Explains Everything

Think Progress shared a story that’s becoming increasingly common in America: someone discriminates against a group of people for religious reasons, then cries reverse discrimination when they catch heat for it. The right to love is offensive, and the right to hate must be protected.
Don’t worry, we aren’t going to preach at you — at least not right now — on a wrestling blog. The reason we wanted to share this story of a Florida lesbian couple refused service by a wedding planner because their relationship made her feel “uncomfortable” and the ensuing DON’T TREAD ON ME defense from anti-gay groups is because to truly know the planner, all you have to do is look at her name:

Lana Rusev
Lana Rusev of Simply Elegant Wedding Planning
Having been together for four years, Melissa McCord and her partner did not waste time taking advantage of Florida’s marriage equality, marrying on January 10. Still, the Jacksonville mothers of two wanted to plan a nice formal ceremony to share with family and friends and sought out a wedding planner. Lana Rusev of Simply Elegant Wedding Planning wrote back to them that she was already booked for the weekend they wanted, but bothered to add, “Due to my strong personal belief I do not feel comfortable planning a wedding for lesbian couples. I hope you understand and not take this personally.”

Yes, the woman shares a name with both the WWE’s Bulgarian-born United States Champion Rusev and his manager, “The Ravishing Russian” Lana. If your name’s Lana Rusev, how do you NOT discriminate? She should be refusing service to all “stupid Americans.” Think Progress includes her quote explaining her actions, but now I’m sad it isn’t just a giant picture of Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, Rusev is taking great umbrage to the backlash she’s facing. On Facebook, she suggested that First News Coast cut some of her remarks, claiming, “I absolutely have nothing against these individuals.” But she also doubled down, asserting, “I am not afraid to stand for what I believe. I will continue to stand my ground and not be bullied. Our Facebook has been swarmed by discriminating comments and negative reviews.”
Indeed, her Facebook page includes negative comments from many people. Contrary to her description of them, however, the only discrimination that took place was when she refused to serve a same-sex couple. The Family Research Council has already come to Rusev’s defense, citing her as another victim of LGBT equality. Same-marriage “sure impacts their family when they’re fined, forced out of business, or lose their home simply for following their moral conscience.”

Man, Orton better not be anywhere near the main event. If they're gonna do Bryan/Lesnar, that needs to be for the title.
That second part couldn't be further from the truth. If he's already getting the rub from going over Lesnar, he doesn't ALSO need the rub of winning the title, when they can give that rub to someone else.

As for Orton, he's one of the biggest stars in the WWE. He's going to be super over when he returns. He has every right to be in the main event

He's already over. He was white hot when he went out because of the whole vine fad. When he RKO'd Cena and Heyman the pop was huge

It's not about the rub. Daniel Bryan is the most over guy in the company, still, after missing nearly a year. It's about cementing him as "the guy" even if he realistically is still behind Cena. He never got the title run he deserved because of the injury. Having him beat Brock, for the title non the less, when he's on his way to start 'real' fighting again, would be huge. The injury concerns on Bryan are also bull shit. Every match he's been in since, his opponent has been targeting his neck, and he's been selling it. They wouldn't be allowing that if there was a major concern for re-injury. He's healthy.

Orton is definitely a star, but there are many better options for the main event. Not to mention The Authority being involved in the main event/title match would suck (with Rollins involved)

I might have accidentally but I don't think I ever said Orton should win. Rollins has been the MVP of the WWE from the time Bryan got injured to now, and it hasn't even been close. Why can't he main event?

Bryan does not need the belt. Beating Brock, the guy who conquered the streak, is enough to consider Bryan the top guy. I understand he's the most over guy in the company. Giving him the belt accomplishes little other than appeasing his supporters. It's not even about the injury. I pointed out to someone the other day that Bryan wouldn't be selling neck injuries like that if he wasn't healthy. There still may be long term durability issues but I'm not too concerned.

I just want to see Rollins get the reign he deserves. He deserves it way more than Bryan does. Rollins has carried raw with Bryan out. He's better on the mic and he's better in the ring.

rollins is only better on the mic because he's a heel and they need that skill more than faces. bryan doesn't need to go out and cut a 15 minute promo like rollins does.

Bryan isn't great on the mic, period. He's improved, sure.

I don't think Bryan could play the heel that Rollins does.

Remember the Yes Yes Yes thing started while Bryan was heel while holding the WHC. Rollins is a natural at being a heel but i think he will shine more once he turns face.

Seth has the moveset of a face but he's been an amazing heel. He's not a "natural" at all. He's worked very hard on the mic to get to where he is.

And come on, don't compare Daniel Bryan as a heel to Seth Rollins. There's absolutely no comparison.

Does anybody want to do a rumble pool? For fun I guess. If we get 5 or 6 people we can each draft 5-6 numbers and whoever has the entrant that wins, wins the pool.

Never was comparing Bryan as a heel to Rollins. Rollins is a natural as heel. Have you seen his heel work in the Indies and ROH? Is mic skills continued to grow through out then until now.

i dont think we can get enough people lol.

rollins has been the best heel the company has had in years but when he makes the transition to a fave he's gonna be even more over.

and i don't think bryan is the heel rollins is, but rollins isn't the face that bryan is.

Bryan has the underdog gimmick and whether you want to admit it or not, eventually it's going to run its course. The injuries have postponed that fact but it will.

And you, me, BB, cheato, Teagz? Anyone else can hop in too if they want. Like I said it's just for fun.

We can do random draw from random.org or number draft, doesn't matter to me.
