Filling in as the host of Fox News' "Hannity" Tuesday night, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson said that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick should have received the death penalty for killing dogs.

The comment came during a panel discussion on President Obama's recent phone call to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, in which he praised Lurie for giving Vick a second chance after his federal dogfighting conviction.

"I'm a Christian. I've made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second chances," Carlson said. "But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale."
Bull shit....im sorry for cussing but this makes me so damn angry...why does he deserve a death penatly? Some people who murder HUMANS dont even get the death penalty. Are we honestly going to put dogs' lives ahead of humans' lives? Im not saying what he did wasnt wrong, and im not justifying dogfighting..but seriously? I have a dog, and what vick did was sick and inhumane...but he did the time, he learned his lesson, and he's on the path to rehabilitating himself. Why should he die for dogfighting? Honestly...this is complete BS. Some people will never learn to forgive and forget. Why tho? Is it a race issue? Is it the fact that he's doing so well in the NFL ever since coming back? Is it both? Is it neither?

What an idiot. He was dogfighting. Not running an underground mafia organization.

I don't believe in anyone receiving death as a punishment. If anything, jail for life is much better.

I don't see why he would need to be that severily punished. I love dogs, don't get me wrong --- but what he did wasn't that bad, let's be honest here. Like stated, there is much worse shit that happens in the country. In soem countries dog fighting is popular and legal, hell some places even eat dogs. He did his time, let it go.

Exactly! I hate hearing people say stuff and be like "All dog owners hate what he did, and will never get over what he did." or stuff like that. Well, I own a dog, and I love my dog, and dogs in general, but i'm over it. Just another case of overreacting. I mean, he's a conservative and he's lying about it being about Vick. He's more just upset that Obama is supporting him, because he is turning things around. Conservatives hate change, and they hate that Obama is President. He'll never get over that, and he'll always say he hates something that Obama likes or supports. He'll always hold a grudge and be the bitter man he is. Doesn't help that it was on Fox News and they are just as bad at being conservative. Also, for him to throw in that he is a Christian pisses me off even more. This guy is a joke!

I co-sign.
I figured people were over the whole dog fighting thing. It's been long enough. People need to hop off.

The Eagles are more worried about Michael Vick's injured leg than another attack on his dogfighting past.

Fox analyst Tucker Carlson gave the harshest critique of Vick's past yet, saying the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback "should have been executed" for his gruesome dogfighting crimes.

Carlson was guest hosting for Sean Hannity's show on Fox News Channel on Tuesday night when he made the remarks. He led a panel discussion about President Barack Obama commending the owner of the Eagles for giving Vick a second chance after his release from prison. Vick served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring.

"I'm a Christian, I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances," Carlson said on the show. "But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did [it] in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs?"

Pamela Browner White, the Eagles senior vice president of public affairs and government relations, said the team had no comment.

"Dog fighting is a traditional form of blood sport that has been practiced for centuries around the world[citation needed]. Accounts of dog fighting in China date back to 240 A.D.[citation needed]. Due to the actions of groups such as SPCA, dog fighting is now illegal in all first world countries except Japan and Romania. Dog fighting is legal in most third world countries.

In the 20th and 21st centuries, dog fighting has increasingly become an unlawful activity in most of the world. The reasons fall into several broad categories, and each have motivated constituencies in many areas."

Everyone deserves a second chance and Michael Vick has proved in. I don't know what his problem is. If he's a Christian, then why the hell would he say someone should be executed?

LMFAO. I love dogs man, but this is retarded. People kill each other all the time, and they don't even get the Death Penalty.

Well, what he did was uncalled for, something I will never accept, but he deserves a second chance and he's made the most of it thus far, give the man a chance to redeem himself!
