Marc Stein: Regarding his looming trade to Detroit, Tobias Harris tells ESPN’s Chris Broussard: “I’m ready to make the playoffs.”CP3MVP said:Tobias Harris to Detroit for Ersan and Jennings. Wow.
Bulls Push To Trade Pau Gasol?12:16pm: The Bulls are aggressively shopping Pau Gasol, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical On Yahoo Sports.
12:44pm: Sources who spoke with Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com dispute the idea the Bulls are aggressively shopping Gasol, saying instead that the Bulls have merely fielded calls about him (Twitter link).
12:50pm: Johnson indicates Chicago’s asking price for Gasol is the same as it is for Gibson: a rotation player and a first-rounder (Twitter link).
1:56pm: The Bulls have turned down some offers for Gasol, so they’re not trading him for the sake of trading him, Johnson writes.
Bulls, Raptors Talk Taj Gibson, Patrick Patterson9:33am: The Bulls have proposed a swap that would send Taj Gibson to Toronto and bring Patrick Patterson to Chicago, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.com. However, the Raptors love Patterson and GM Masai Ujiri doesn’t appear to feel as strongly about any of the available power forwards who might bump Luis Scola from the starting lineup, Lowe adds in a different portion of his wide-ranging trade deadline column. Ostensibly, that signals Ujiri’s preference for Patterson over Gibson, though that’s not entirely clear. The Raptors would have a strong chance to re-sign Al Horford if they traded for him, sources tell Lowe, but it would take just about all Toronto has to give to wrest him from the Hawks, and a Horford-to-Toronto swap is unlikely, Lowe writes.
Bulls Talk Tony Snell Trades, But Interest LowThe Bulls have had talks about Tony Snell in addition to discussions on Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson, but other teams have little interest in Snell, sources tell K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. The focus for the Bulls earlier this season was reportedly to find an upgrade on the wing, ostensibly a sign of the team’s dissatisfaction with Snell, who’s started much of the year alongside All-Star Jimmy Butler. Chicago is over the luxury tax but isn’t making it a priority to slip under the line, with no threat of repeat-offender penalties this season and a much higher luxury tax threshold projected for next season.
A 3 team trade with Love involved (reported by Isola so take that for what it's worth) would make absolutely no sense unless they get like a 4 that can defend. If they're gonna move Love I think it should be to the C's for Crowder and maybe something like Bradley/Smart + Picks.cavsfan817 said:Cavs showing "strong interest" in Ryan Anderson
If they're smart they don't move Love at all. Fits too well and downgrading to smaller pieces doesn't make any sense when you're trying to win a championship and you arguably need more to beat the Spurs/Warriors than what you already have.BNC said:A 3 team trade with Love involved (reported by Isola so take that for what it's worth) would make absolutely no sense unless they get like a 4 that can defend. Why would Grizzlies do that? Is Conley unhappy/expiring?Foreman said:Rumors of a Reggie Jackson for Mike Conley swap are going around
He doesn't fit when they're playing the Warriors and that's all that really matters. He can't play when the Warriors go small because all they do is get him in pick and roll over and over againcavsfan817 said:If they're smart they don't move Love at all. He's expiring but I'm hearing that the Grizzlies aren't even entertaining offers for himtyfreak said:Why would Grizzlies do that? Is Conley unhappy/expiring?
Personally, I think that can be tweaked and they just haven't done it.BNC said:He doesn't fit when they're playing the Warriors and that's all that really matters. He can't play when the Warriors go small because all they do is get him in pick and roll over and over again
But how? I don't think it's an effort thing, he just can't move laterally very quickly and will get shredded in Steph-Dray PnR'scavsfan817 said:Personally, I think that can be tweaked and they just haven't done it.
Well a couple of different ways in my eyes. They could go extreme (LeBron wouldn't want to) and play him at the 5. Draymond would be there anyway so it isn't like he is outmatched. TT plays the pick and roll a lot better and he would/should get the majority of the center time when dray is on the floor. They could also try some sort of matchup defense where everyone plays their guy and love mans the middle (his guy would be the worst shooter) to minimize their shooting if they played that aspect. I just think there are a lot of things to try rather than just jump ship.BNC said:But how? So your first choice is to bench Love? Or play LeBron at the 4? Love can't move with Dray and would be involved in the Steph-Dray PnR's if he's guarding Draymond, that won't go well. Love guarding their worst shooter in the death lineup means he's on Igoudala, so on Igoudala-Steph pick and rolls you're gonna let Iggy make the decisions instead of Draymond, it really won't make much of a differencecavsfan817 said:Well a couple of different ways in my eyes.
