Sam Amick of the Sacramento Bee breaks the news that Spencer Hawes will not, in fact, play in Summer League, despite the Kings putting his name on the roster. Geoff Petrie actually seems fairly pissed off by Geoff Petrie standards.

I didn't see why he was going in the first place, he's heading into his third season. But with Spencer, he has the potential to be a great player, an all star. But he just isn't dedicated to the game of basketball like Jason Thompson or Donte Greene who I think can live up to their potential because they love the game and put forth so much effort outside of the season. Spencer just doesn't have the heart.

Spencer always seemed kind of soft. I was reading the kings forum on realgm they really think greene and thompson and reke will be special.

Don't get me wrong, I think Spencer will be a solid starter for years but he has the potential to be an all star with the way he can block shots and spread the floor with his size even but he won't ever reach that. I've heard rumors of us trading Martin for say a Rondo type then letting Reke play the 2. That's how high people are on Reke.
