Word was MJ didnt sign because Chicago offered more money or years, I forget, but they say he was this close to becoming a Knick.
MRS: But you told me recently that had a phone call come at the right time, you would have been a New York Knick.
JORDAN: If Chicago had not made a significant offer, New York was next. We actually had a dialogue with New York. If a phone call didn't come in 30 minutes from Chicago, we had already given assurances that we would have gone to the Knicks for less money.

I dont understand how a team that won 12 games, LOST the lottery, and will LOSE in free agency has a better situation than a team who won more games and is about to sign a big free agent, lol.
2 of those 12 came against the Knicks. So what if we didn't get wall? We already have a PG (one who LBJ has said that he would like to play alongside). We "will LOSE in free agency"? I want your crystal ball shipped to me with high priority this instant. I want to know where I'm going to grad school in the Fall of 2013, or who wins the NJ Pick 5 lottery, since you probably know that too. You won more games right? You still stunk. Good luck with potential future sign and trades with all of those first round draft picks you have, oh wait... STAT is a good player, but by himself it is almost as bad of a signing as JJ.

Most of us are too young to remember the glory days back in the late 60's and from the lat 80's to mid 90's

You cant base our performance within the last 10 years on how we fare as a franchise as a whole, you have to include EVERYTHING
Im not basing it on the last 10 years. Im basing it upon the whole time I have seen the Knicks, by losing to the Rockets and Jordans Bulls and then the Spurs in '99. Then trying to salvage a team by taking big contract upon big contract. Obviously a franchise is considered historic by the amount of championships they have. I think that we are heading in the right direction now, we are adding youth to the team and some actual buzz in the city about the team which we havent had since Marbury got traded to the Knicks. Remember when the Celtics were a joke and Ainge was about to get fired and considered as one of the worst gm's in the league? Now they are contenders every year and I think the Knicks will become that as well.

MJ doesnt even consider himself from NY. I think the movie was MJ to the max he was like "Im just a country boy from NC".

Why do you want Lebron then? Since he quit on his coach and team to you?

Edit

Probably because he's the only reason our team is relevant and we don't have that coach anymore..

But nah man, he sucks, why would I want Lebron.

Well he comes off as a prick and an all about me guy with the way he handles stuff... But I'm not stupid, I know the Cavs need him, but he's holding the Cavs hostage, and many teams right now actually.. The guy knows what he is going to do, 3 more days of no signings isn't going to change his opinion.

1. Devin Harris is a shadow of his former self and significantly regressed from his first year with the Nets.

2. LBJ has said he would like to play with a lot of people. Ive heard stories that he wants to play with Cp3, Rose, Wall, Johnson, and even Eddy Curry....

3. What do the Nets have to sell to big free agents? The opportunity of being a "winner?" The oh so historic 0 NBA titles. The great front office who assembled a dreadful team that fired its coach and general manager? Or the great possibility of playing in a dump of a city called Newark for 2 years?

4. Amare isnt the only signing, Donnie Walsh has a great NBA mind and is a real general manager, he is obviously going to pair up STAT with another star.

Sacramento Kings in 2009-10: 25-57 (2nd to last in West/5th overall pick in 2010 draft)

Atlanta Hawks in 2009-10: 53-29 (3rd in East)
Wtd does that have to do with what I said? Lol

A: Averaging 17 and 7 while battling an injury last season? I'm fine with that.

2. LBJ has said he would like to play with a lot of people. Ive heard stories that he wants to play with Cp3, Rose, Wall, Johnson, and even Eddy Curry....

A: We're still talking about DH here... CP3: Bad knees. Rose: Basically a smaller version of LBJ. They would not co-exist at all. Wall: How would LBJ ever play with him outside of the ASG? Curry: When is the last time that he has played on an NBA court?

3. What do the Nets have to sell to big free agents? The opportunity of being a "winner?" The oh so historic 0 NBA titles. The great front office who assembled a dreadful team that fired its coach and general manager? Or the great possibility of playing in a dump of a city called Newark for 2 years? As a matter of fact, LBJ has warned us to have enough money to offer another MAX contract, something that can be done by dealing Humphries like we did to Yi. In a fashion that I call "Dump the Hump".

A: Pretty much anything the Knicks can/did and more. Winning a championship for us would immortalize him in Brooklyn and likely all of NY, the chance to become a true global icon, a young core with all of the potential in the world and more. I posted the Knicks presentation to James earlier in this topic. It completely omitted the Nets, presumably due to the reasons I just stated.

4. Amare isnt the only signing, Donnie Walsh has a great NBA mind and is a real general manager, he is obviously going to pair up STAT with another star.

A: Seriously. Send me that crystal ball. NOW.

The fact that Evans was a stat padder with no true scouting report (since he was a rookie) on a bad team while Johnson was the leader of an outside contender.

A source reports that Amar'e Stoudemire is on the verge of joining the Knicks as a free agent.

The forward met with the Knicks on Monday and the two sides are on the brink of finalizing a contract worth nearly $100 million over five years. The contract language has already been hammered out.

Stoudemire will meet with owner James Dolan at 4 p.m.

Amar'e Stoudemire and the Knicks have agreed to a contract, sources have confirmed to multiple outlets including Alan Hahn of Newsday and David Aldridge of NBA.com.

The deal will be worth $100 million over five seasons.

After the two sides commenced official negotiations Monday it did not take long for New York to make its offer and for Stoudemire to accept, with a final meeting Monday afternoon between Stoudemire and the team's ownership group, led by James Dolan, making it official.

Going to be exciting to see if they can get another max guy too to compliment him. LeBron said he would play with Amare or Bosh. It will be interesting.

Yes. Good move by the Knicks, we'll see I guess if they can get another big time player to go along with him.

yeah me too. Lebron isn't signing with Knicks. As we all know it is between Chicago and Cavs. Lance Stephenson was good on his first game at the summer league. Still can't believe we didn't draft him.

Free-agent center Shaquille O'Neal is seriously considering a two-year deal with the Hawks that starts at the mid-level exception of $5.8 million, according to NBA sources close to both the team and the future Hall of Fame player.
They should just take him in a S&T for Childress, I would like that lol
