Although the league didn't extend an official invite -- it was more of a "feeling out" call to gauge interest, Nance told ESPN.com after practice Monday -- the Lakers' training staff ultimately advised Nance against taking part in this year's contest because of the continuous soreness in his right knee that has sidelined him for the past four games.

Larry Nance Jr. said he still hopes he'll be asked to participate in the dunk contest, perhaps as soon as next year. Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE via Getty Images
"That's something that I've always said I've wanted to do at some point," Nance said of the dunk contest. "With the recent [injury] in my knee and everything, I don't want to go against the training staff's advice.

"This year might not be in the cards, per [the training staff's] request, but it's still something I personally would love to do in the near future. Next year, if [the NBA] wanted me, I would love to."

Nance said he agreed with the assessment from the Lakers' training staff.

would be cool to see nance in the dunk contest

Andrew Wiggins and Kristaps Porzingis headline the World Team for the Rising Stars Challenge.

Rounding out the World Team are Bojan Bogdanovic of the Brooklyn Nets, Clint Capela of the Houston Rockets, Mario Hezonja of the Orlando Magic, Nikola Jokic and Emmanuel Mudiay of the Denver Nuggets, Nikola Mirotic of the Chicago Bulls and Raul Neto of the Utah Jazz.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine and Jahlil Okafor headline the U.S. Team.

The U.S. Team also includes Jordan Clarkson and DAngelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers, Rodney Hood of the Jazz, Jabari Parker of the Milwaukee Bucks, Elfrid Payton of the Magic and Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics.

I got all the reserves right except 1

Boogie, AD, Harden, Klay, Draymond, CP3, and Lamarcus

Millsap, Bosh, JimmyB, Wall, Demar, Isaiah, Drummond

I didnt think lamarcus would. Id put damian over him, even Dirk but whatever they just wanted to do that stupid top teams need 2 thing

This dude carron j phillips posted it on twitter(hes verified idk who he is tho)

Overall not many complaints. I'd agree with Lillard over Aldridge. Also I don't feel like Klay has had an All-Star season, but I obviously understand why he's in.

They aren't playing for anything. He's a top ten player of all time on his swan song. He's the most deserving player of anybody on the roster

Doesn't change the fact this is an All-Star game for the 2015-16 season. He doesn't deserve it. I don't have a problem with it because the fans want to see him, but he doesn't deserve it.

he deserves it. hes been a work horse for the league and he probably should have retired a few years ago but his love of the game wouldn't let him. what they should have done is given him an honorary spot and still allowed another player on the team.

Have the coaches pick all 12 guys
And let the fans pick the starters
