First of all, Johnathon Martin IS indeed soft, how can you not stand up for yourself, you had a couple inches on the guy, you were around the same weight, and younger, why are you letting him pick on you. Fight him in the locker room, the players will break it up, and the message will be sent, done and done with. Really, I don't believe he'll get on another NFL team because of this, he is the definition of "soft" and doesn't belong in the NFL is that's his attitude. He'd need some serious counseling to get him back in.
Secondly though, Richie Incognito deserves a whole lot of blame himself. Sure rookie hazing is pretty normal, it happens a lot, but as a joke, not as flat out bullying. Incognito came off racist, and very violent in his voice-mail to Martin, which was clear to everyone. There's no way to know for sure if he is a real racist or not, but it seems like he was just targeting Martin, so I'd lean on him not being racist. Seriously though this guy has some problems, thinking this is all okay, but this isn't his first issue. I don't see Incognito making an NFL team this year, maybe someone will take him next year like the Jets, someone who'd like all the publicity.
Thirdly, and finally I think the majority of the blame needs to fall in the coaching staff and players for letting this reach the levels that it did. You have players like Tannehill, your quarterback, your team leader, coming out and saying they were best friends two weeks ago? The hazing has been going on since his rookie season, how is that even possible. Is Tannehill that blind to the situation, or is there something else inside the organization that we don't know about yet. Both Cameron Wake and Mike Wallace too need to be ashamed of themselves for supporting Incognito like that, it makes no sense at a time like this to come out supporting Incognito. Seriously they must have been either bullies themselves in all of this or again just that blind to the situation. The real blame falls in the coaching staff though, who reportedly was urging Incognito to toughen up Martin? Is this for real? This could actually brought to federal court, for an unsafe workplace where the coaches are encouraging a player be beaten on. I doubt they meant for Incognito to flat out bully the guy, but if your telling a guy like Incognito to toughen someone up, you better be monitoring the situation closely, which clearly didn't happen. We're going to see a lot of coaches being fined, suspended, and fired in the days following this.
Bottom line is everyone involved is at fault including Martin, and if action is taken against any of them, don't expect to see any of them back in the NFL anytime soon.
Remember guys this is my opinion, you can agree with it, or you can disagree with it, I personally don't care what you guys think, I'll continue to support my side of this unless any new evidence comes out that would make me change my position.
