Staggering...

- Braves will lose 12 prospects, bare in mind some have high potentials and cost around $20M+ to bring into the organization.

- International signing restrictions thru 2021

- Former GM John Coppodellla effectively banned from baseball.

17-year phenom Kevin Maitan is now effectively a Free Agent. Teams can sign him using monies from this years IFA signing space or pull from their 2018-19 allocation.

Also will not be permitted to sign 14-year old SS Robert Puason. Top player in 2019 IFA class who was signed illegally.

Braves also forfeit 2018 3rd round draft pick.

Sounds like they were paying the players under the table so they would sign for a lower pool amount. Since they were limited to just $300k per player

Coppolella was forced to resign as general manager on Oct. 2 after MLB investigators disclosed that the Braves had flouted international signing rules between 2015 and 2017. Former Braves Special Assistant Gordon Blakeley, the team's international scouting chief, was suspended from performing services for any team for one year.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league's investigation found that the Braves illegally moved bonus pool money from one player to boost another player's contract.

this is huge because many have suspected teams in all sports to play players under the table. huge penalty too

Kinda fucked up MLB banned Coppodella from baseball for life, but John Hart resigned well after the fact and probably isn't penalized at all. As President of Baseball Ops at the time, Hart needs to go down with this ship.

The Braves got caught doing what many teams have done in the past, and may continue doing.  They signed a bundle of players and assigned some of the bonus money incorrectly, saying that they gave player A a smaller bonus than they did to stay under the cap.  Player B would get a bigger bonus on paper, but the "agent" would be sure to give player A the bigger amount.
This said, the biggest reason baseball went "easy" on the Braves was because those in charge of the illegal activities have been removed from their positions.  John Coppolella was banned from baseball for life and Gordon Blakely was given a 1 year suspension.

Fortunately for the Braves, Ronald Acuna stays with the team.
