I never understood that either. Like, the Mets play tonight, then they have off tomorrow, they play Tuesday, and then have off two days to travel home and the Home Opener is Friday.

I hate how the MLB schedules the first series of games. These players have been practicing in spring training for over a month and you feel like you need to give them an off day after just one game? It makes no sense.

Might have something to do with the inevitable change in weather, specifically temperatures. It's in the low 40's in Pittsburgh as we speak, and it may take time to adjust arms to the colder weather.
