He's not changed, he's still the same guy in the wrong business. There's no way, he's the same ole cheapster he's always been. Believe me, this sounds really good but when you have Mike Brown as Owner, you don't even give it a .1% probability.
wow, guess he tried to win the fans over with those quotes. I thought Benson was a cheapster.

That's the problem, he wants you to believe it but he still sucks and forever will suck as an NFL owner. He'd rather pocket the money for himself, like he doesn't have enough. He'll say whatever sounds good so the fans will show up to watch the games so he can make more money.

The only reason they haven't, is because they paid him the bug bucks on a front loaded contract. He signed that contract, got paid his money, and should stick to that contract. Plus he's still not playing for pennies. He's due to make $4.45 million this year, and almost $5 million next year.

I'm on the Jags side on this.
Front loaded or not, the average yearly salary from that deal was about 6 million. That's less than any of the top 10 highest paid RB's, and there was also less guaranteed money than the top 10 guys. MJD is no lower than the 2nd best back in the NFL, he's outplayed that contract. He deserves a new deal.

IMO a Mike Wallace/Maurice Jones-Drew swap would work quite nicely for both teams

Maurice Jones-Drew will stay in Jacksonville. I don't see him going anywhere else. I also think the Jaguars are fine at the WR position right now. Much better than a year ago. They need Maurice Jones-Drew more than they do another WR.

One of the Jets beat reports said they're not interested in MJD because of how much they'd have to give up to get him and how much they'd have to pay him.

Just fucking doing it Tannenbum, Shonn Greene is ass and MJD has been running behind shitty lines on offenses with few weapons for awhile now.

You do realize they would have to give up A LOT right?

The Panthers came to mind when I first heard this. Only because they have 2 really good RBs and could possibly move one of them.

The Jags probably couldn't get more than a 3rd or 4th round pick for MJD if they tried.

Which is why they won't move him.

He's obviously worth more but with the perception of the RB position being less important than ever and the fact that he wants a new big money deal, teams are going to shy away.

Exactly Jake. Who wants a back with the wear he's had? He's only got 2, maybe 3 years at the most at this production in his style of running.

Well not only that, but the team that will be trading for him will also be obligated to pay him... no team is going to give up any higher than a 3rd-4th round pick if they have to turn around and re-up him for 9+ mil per year.

Like I said, nothing to discuss, he will stay in Jacksonville. Jacksonville really needs him, they will work something out.
