If you say SJax will get hurt, suppose Muscle Hamster does...
You're argument is basically applying one bad scenario to one team just to say "team A will be better if this or that happens to team B." The Falcons defense has been a glaring issue for years, but we still managed to only lose 3 games excluding the playoffs. I'll reserve judgment on our DLine and rookie corners until preseason games go into full effect, so we'll see

I think SJax will get hurt because of his recent history. I'm not just applying a bad scenario to Atlanta for the hell of it, or something. Martin could get hurt, sure, but he remained relatively healthy last season with a high amount of usage, so I will definitely agree that he could get hurt, but he dealt with it last year. It's hard to say he won't be able to this year, knowing that.

Stephen Jackson is 30 years old and is approaching 2,500 career carries. Two numbers that historically suggest a running back is about to fall off a cliff. Also, lets not act like he's running behind a dominate offensive line. That rushing attack was one of the worst last season and probably got worse with the loss of Clabo and McClure this offseason.

And this is exactly why I don't necessarily think Atlanta is a shoe-in for the NFCS crown. They're weak in the trenches.

On both sides of the ball they are.

Biermann is a decent player, but he won't offer much in terms of pass rush.

Umenyiora is the same type of player as Abraham, but a downgrade. Not nearly the pass rusher Abraham is (or what he used to be) and is poor vs the run like Abraham.

Peters was horrible last year.

Babineaux is probably their best linemen but even he is somewhat neutralized with the great interior offensive lines the NFCS has.

I'm interested in seeing if Gonzo finally drops off significantly, too.

Nobody is overrating him to the point that he's so good that we should win the title every year he's coach. Like I said, that's a retarded statement. And no, we don't have the worst defense in the league.
Statistically, they were.

I think winning the Super Bowl so quickly after a disaster like Katrina really heightened the praise that Saints players and Sean Payton were getting, to the extent that Brees and Payton were heightened to an extremely glorified level. However, they both live up to that stature with their performance. They're both flawed--Brees throws more picks than people realize--and Peyton hasn't been able to bring in the right person to fix that defense, but they're both exceptionally talented, probably top 5 at their positions in the NFL. Peyton is arguably a top 5 coach, anyway (Brees is the 4th best QB). There's lots of names in that discussion.

That's just my two cents on the "is Sean Payton overrated" discussion.

If we are talking about last season then I agree lol
What else would we be talking about? Season hasn't started quite yet, which is why I'm reserving my judgment on our improved DLine and rookie corners

Why would we be talking about last season?

Because that's the last season to base opinions off of. Everything after that is just speculation

Lol well you go ahead and talk about last season.

I'll speculate. It's just about as good as forming opinions based solely off of last season.

We are seriously in this thread overhyping the Bucs right now....smh

There's no way you can say our squad didn't get better with the addition of SJax, just doesn't make sense at all. Our offense as a whole is the most versatile in our division if not the entire league.

I was watching NBC Sports, and they made a fantastic point

Michael Turner sucked dick and got 10 TDs. SJax could get like 16

If Cam has a decent #2 WR this year, the Panthers beg to differ about most versatile offense.

What was the longest TD for Turner? If we're talking about primarily short yardage situations, then I don't see why Jackson would be much better.

And it doesn't matter because Jackson is unlikely to play a full season.
