Anybody else keeping tabs on this? Tony Sparano and his staff have not been fired, mind you, but a lot of reports that Dolphins' owner Stephen Ross has been making overatures to big-name head coaching candidates Cowher, Gruden, and now Jim Harbaugh.

Mortenson is reporting that Ross hopped a plane and headed West in an urgent effort to make a pitch to Harbaugh. Jim spent a long time with Jed York and reportedly being offered $7M per by the 49ers...a figure many expect Ross to exceed, if that's what it will take.

Very awkward situation in Miami...even more so if Tony Sparano is left in his role after all this. I can't believe they are already going to go through another staff turnover but then again, there's a ton of pressure in the AFC East and it will take a lot to win that division. Not saying he's a bad coach but Sparano was overrated from the beginning. A soft schedule and Tom Brady's knee injury gave him an amazing first season in Miami...one he'll never manage again.

We'll see.

I have been keeping an eye on this as well, very interesting fortune of events going on in Miami. In the end, I will believe Sparano will be canned, he hasn't done enough, up and down. With all the big name coaches out there, one of them will land up in Miami IMO.

As a courtesy, they should remove Sparano and move on. Also, a bush move on Harbaugh's part to interview for a position w/ another coach still in place.

IDK how you can make a rookie coach the highest paid coach in the NFL.
And if I'm not mistaken, 2nd highest in professional sports.

Well, they believe he can take them places where they want to be. Sparano isn't getting the job done, that may be the only way he'll [Harbaugh] will do it. If they want him THAT bad, they'll make sure he's happy. It probably has to be a really good deal to pass up the Coaching job at Stanford. If you want someone that bad, you'll offer him something he just can't pass up.
