Anybody else keeping tabs on this? Tony Sparano and his staff have not been fired, mind you, but a lot of reports that Dolphins' owner Stephen Ross has been making overatures to big-name head coaching candidates Cowher, Gruden, and now Jim Harbaugh.
Mortenson is reporting that Ross hopped a plane and headed West in an urgent effort to make a pitch to Harbaugh. Jim spent a long time with Jed York and reportedly being offered $7M per by the 49ers...a figure many expect Ross to exceed, if that's what it will take.
Very awkward situation in Miami...even more so if Tony Sparano is left in his role after all this. I can't believe they are already going to go through another staff turnover but then again, there's a ton of pressure in the AFC East and it will take a lot to win that division. Not saying he's a bad coach but Sparano was overrated from the beginning. A soft schedule and Tom Brady's knee injury gave him an amazing first season in Miami...one he'll never manage again.
We'll see.
